The ratios matter more than the tools. Here's the standard kit, and the numbers we never eyeball.

The kit

seed mix    4–6 g / m², native only
yellow rattle  0.5 g / m², non-negotiable
broadcaster or hand, scale, rake
quadrat     a 1m frame, marked PVC
scythe      for the late-summer cut

The rule

Never sow more than 6 g per square metre. A heavy hand makes a thick, competitive mess — exactly the lawn you're trying to leave.
