Monitoring

Transects, quadrats, and photo points.

You can't manage what you don't count

Monitoring is how a restoration stops being a hope and becomes a dataset. Three tools, done twice a year.

The tools

transects walk a fixed line, count species per metre
quadrats drop a 1m square, count everything in it
photo points same shot, same spot, every season

What we watch

Indicator species — the poppies, rattle, and oxeyes that tell you the balance is holding. If they're stable across three years, the meadow has caught.
